Chinese Zodiac

Chinese Astrology is based on traditional Chinese astronomy and the Chinese calendar. The system uses twelve animals to represent each year in a repeating cycle, with each animal carrying its own symbolic qualities, instincts, and energetic themes.

Not to be confused with BaZi astrology (which is a much more detailed and technical system) the Chinese Simple Zodiac is based on the year of birth and offers a broad energetic lens on temperament, instinct, and generational tone based on your birth years animal.

Each Animal is distinguished with an element. Water, Fire, Earth, Wood & Metal.

The 12

Animals

Each year expresses a dominant movement pattern in nature and human behaviour, symbolised by an animal.

Your birth year determines your personal animal plus each calendar year carries its own collective animal, influencing the broader energetic atmosphere we all move through (this year its the Fire Horse)

These animals aren’t personality types.
They are patterns of Qi.

The 12 Animals

  • Rat → Initiation, resourcefulness, sensing opportunity in the dark

  • Ox → Steady construction, endurance, grounded effort

  • Tiger → Breakthrough, courage, directional momentum

  • Rabbit → Sensitivity, refinement, relational awareness
